After graduating from UCLA, John Leggatt began his career as a technical writer and a product quality analyst at American Honda in Torrance, CA, where he received his foundation in business practices.
Later, after completing his MBA, John began a rewarding management-consulting career in Nagoya, Japan, coaching company owners and employees in best-in-class human resources and business operations.
After 20 years of increasing the bottom line of companies overseas, John decided it was time to return to North America and begin a new career. He completed his M.Ed. and certifications in resume writing, interview coaching, personal branding, online identity management, and personality temperament assessment, then co-founded Careers Upstairs to provide career coaching services to professionals in Canada and the United States.
In his free time, John pursues his life-long love of aviation. At 18 he earned both Canadian and US pilots licenses, then at 22 flew his Decathlon aircraft inverted between Palm Springs, CA and Deer Valley, AZ, establishing an FAI-sanctioned cross-country world-speed record that still stands. These days he flies his GlaStar experimental aircraft to backcountry airstrips in the Pacific Northwest.
Driven by the same passion he brings to aviation, John Leggatt helps advance the careers of professionals across all industries.
